Sons of Fenrir

The Sons of Fenrir are Viking re-enactors who herald from Calgary, Alberta, represent Norse, Icelandic and Anglo-Dane peoples.

Don't let our name fool you. We are a group of all shapes and sizes, from the oldest to the youngest; we stand strong and proud as friends, neighbors and family.

Our group lives to learn and teach the history of a once strong and fierce society of people who thrived in our portrayed years of 850-900 AD. Showing off the way of battle in shield walls and one-on-one live steel combat, to the simplest of tent living and day-to-day lifestyles. Started back in 2001, the Sons of Fenrir aspired to share the fun of Viking life while keeping the spirit of learning and history alive. Our name, given to us by our founders, calls back to the two sons of the mighty wolf Fenrir, Hatí and Sköll, who will devour the sun and the moon come Ragnarök. However, in our case it is history's knowledge and re-enactment that we chase. Creating an exciting world of old and new that fosters learning and trying new things. We encourage our members to step outside their modern comforts and step into the past's challenges. These encounters are explored anywhere from public speaking, testing a craft, to keeping yourself warm and fed while camping like a Viking.

Although we may seems intimidating and grim in some of our photos or when we are fighting on the field, we welcome one and all to join in our fun. Ask questions and test our knowledge of the way of life that we portray. We often have exciting games and activities, encouraging learning and sometimes just a bit of silliness. We are proud to be a diverse group of people ranging from individuals to whole families with little ones who have joined and helped weaved a strong sense of camaraderie and growth in our community.

The history of the Viking age is ever changing with new discoveries everyday, and we invite you to join us in our adventures.
